FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions):
- Q: Are we a motion control outfit?
A: Motion Control can operate in real time and high speed. This means its motors and rig has to be big. We specialise in time-lapse that moves. This means our equipment is small , light wieght and battery operated . We can pan, tilt, zoom, track and pull focus remotely using electronics that synchronise all the moves. We can also change exposure from day to night and vice versa, or change interval time (making the subject speed up or slow down in shot). It is quick to set up (15 minutes to one hour for tracking depending on how complicate the shot is). The other advantage is that all the equipment fits in a small van or can be flown relatively cheaply.
- Q: Can we go from time-lapse to slow motion?
A: No, but we have motors that cover the whole range from a frame every few minutes to 120fps. The shots can be joined in post.
- Q: Do we dry hire the equipment?
A: No, the electronic hardware and software is designed specifically for us, this means that a good deal of training is necessary to set up and operate the equipment. We do have a choice of camera people.
- Q: How long does it take to set up?
A: For simple shots 15 minutes!
- Q: Can you shoot on 16mm?
A: No, Modern 16mm cameras are expensive and the cost of the cameras and lenses out weights the saving on stock. 35 mm is convertible to all formats
